MAY 2006 Men's Sabre Copa Villa de Madrid ESP

Fencing Pictures travels to Madrid, Spain, for the Men's Sabre World Cup. Our coverage and the tournament results are below.

May 5 Results: Pools and General Clasification. Everybody is here, 31 of the top 32 of the FIE ranking. It is like the World Championships. We have Montano, Covaliu, Podzniakov, and more.

May 6: Final Results: The finals were very dramatic, with a lot of surprises.

Podzniakov RUS finished in the top 8. His bout with Nemcsik HUN (2004 Olympic Champion) was very close, finishing at 15/14. It was finally Nemcsik's day again, and he won the gold. Second place was taken by the young Limbach GER, 2005 Junior World Champion.
